Fetterman Discharged From D.C. Hospital

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman D-PA was discharged from a Washington, D.C. hospital late Friday afternoon, according to a statement released by his office.

Communications Director Joe Calvello said the senator, who was hospitalized Wednesday night after feeling lightheaded, had a battery of tests that did not reveal any evidence of seizures.

“A few minutes ago, Senator John Fetterman was discharged from The George Washington University Hospital,” Calvello wrote in the statement, which was sent at 5:12 p.m Friday. “In addition to the CT, CTA, and MRI tests ruling out a stroke, his EEG test results came back normal, with no evidence of seizures. John is looking forward to spending some time with his family and returning to the Senate on Monday.”

Fetterman, 53, the freshman senator from Pennsylvania, suffered a stroke in May 2022, days before Pennsylvania’s primary election. He continues to have auditory processing issues as a result of the stroke, and uses assistive technology to help him communicate.

Fetterman was at a Democratic retreat on Wednesday when he started feeling lightheaded, and called his staff to take him to the hospital. The initial tests doctors performed did not show evidence of a new stroke, but he remained in the hospital for further observation.
