Holiday Lights, Festive Celebrations In PA For Christmas Weekend

PENNSYLVANIA — Communities across southeast Pennsylvania are decked out for the holidays, and with Christmas Day on Monday, there are plenty of events going on this weekend to brighten these long winter nights.

Here are some events in the Philadelphia area this Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 23 and 24, 2023). If an event is open on Christmas Day (Monday), we noted that in the description.

Christmas Village in Center City Philadelphia

• The traditional open-air Christmas market closes on Dec. 24. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

LuminoCity at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center

• Running through Jan. 15, Thursday-Monday (excluding holidays)
• Tickets: $20-$23 for kids; $$29-$32 for adults

Wild Lights at Elmwood Park Zoo

• Open select dates through Dec. 30.
• Tickets: Online pricing for members is $14.95 for kids and $16.95 for those 13 and up. Non-member admission is $18.95 for children ages 3-12 and $21.95 for those 21 and up. Prices at the gate are $1 higher.

"A Christmas Carol" at People's Light

• This holiday classic, adapted from Charles Dickens' original, runs most dates through Dec. 31 and features traditional English carols as well as original music.
• Tickets: Available most dates from $60-$75.

Shady Brook Farm Holiday Light Show

• Drive-through show open nightly Nov. 18 through Jan. 8 including on Christmas Day.
• Tickets: $30-$50 per car or $15-$23 for a wagon ride. Mini buses and limos priced higher.

"A Very Furry Christmas" at Sesame Street Philadelphia

• A celebration of all holidays is going on with Sesame Street favorites. Festivities run through Jan. 7, including on Christmas Day.
• Tickets: Required for anyone aged 2 and up, starting at $32.99
