Iron Hill Brewery Abruptly Shuts All Locations
The popular brewery and restaurant, a staple around the Philly region for more than a decade, is closing its doors for good.
Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant is shutting down all of its remaining locations, they announced Thursday morning.
The gastropub chain has been a staple throughout eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware for years, ever since its first location opened in the region in 1996. Within the past decade its reach had expanded to numerous locations throughout the suburbs.
Iron Hill did not disclose the exact reason for their closure, though they had been struggling in recent years and had already closed several of their establishments, including in Phoenixville nearly a year ago. Increasing competition in the gastropub space, particularly from the rise of microbreweries often partnering with celebrated food trucks, could have played a role.

"It has been our pleasure to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your support, friendship, and loyalty over the years," Iron Hill Brewery said in a statement. "We sincerely hope to return in the future, an when we do, we promise to welcome you with open arms."
It wasn't immediately clear whether the company will attempt a comeback, or in what form. A company spokesperson didn't immediately respond to Patch's questions.
