EASTERN PA — As the search for escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante nears the two week mark, authorities in southeastern Pennsylvania have assembled a massive, interagency team unprecedented in recent regional history.
Cavalcante, a Brazilian national, was convicted on Aug. 16 of first-degree murder in the April 18, 2021 stabbing of his former girlfriend Deborah Brandao.

Danelo Cavalcante, escapes from Chester County prison at 8:50 a.m. by "crabwalking" up a wall to the roof and somehow making his way through a razor wire fence. Authorities have not released further details on exactly how Cavalcante managed to get through the fencing or up the wall, particularly as it was the second escape of this kind from the prison. He is spotted at 9:40 a.m. walking southbound on Wawaset Road outside Pocopson Township. See more.

A $10,000 bounty is placed on Cavalcante's head as the search over the weekend proves fruitless. He is spotted shortly before 1:45 a.m. on the 1800 block of Lenape Road, about 1.5 miles from the prison. See more.

His mother pleads with him to surrender. Cavalcante slips through a police perimeter near Baltimore Pike, and the perimeter shifts. See more.

Police explain superficial details of Cavalcante's escape, including releasing, for the first time, the footage of him crabwalking up the walls. A grid is placed around Longwood Gardens, where he is believed to be located.
