New Winter Storm Targets PA: See Latest Forecast

PA is still feeling the effects of Monday's wintry blast. Forecasters are saying Friday is ripe for another impactful storm.

PENNSYLVANIA - The Keystone State is still feeling the effects of Monday night’s wintry blast and forecasters are saying Friday is ripe for another impactful storm.

Pennsylvanians can expect wind chill in the single digits and teens Wednesday as some residents continue to dig themselves out of the snow. Scores of schools will be operating under a delayed opening due to dangerously icy road conditions.

But Mother Nature isn’t throwing in the towel on wintery storms in the Keystone State just yet. After temperatures rise to the high 20s on Thursday, another round of snow is likely.

One to 4 inches of snow are largely possible Friday around the state, with the southeast portion of the state set to get 2 to 3 inches of snowfall. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Delaware, Philadelphia, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks counties are under a hazardous weather outlook through Tuesday due to the incoming storm.

“Snow and/or sleet accumulation may result in significant travel disruptions on Friday,” the agency said.

The new storm will trigger “deicing operations as the snow spreads across the major airport hubs and the smaller regional airports,” according to an AccuWeather report. “Flight cancellations will mount as airlines fall behind schedule and crews and aircraft are displaced.”
