PA Deadline For Post-Ida FEMA Aid Extended By 1 Month

Registration for Bedford, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and York residents is open through Jan. 10.

PENNSYLVANIA — The registration deadline to receive aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency has been extended by one month for Pennsylvania residents of eight counties affected by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

FEMA issued the extension Friday afternoon, pushing the deadline back from midnight Dec. 10 to midnight Jan. 10.

The funds will help homeowners and renters without flood insurance recover from damage caused between Aug. 31 and Sep. 5, when tornadoes and flooding were widespread throughout Pennsylvania.

FEMA said 67,253 people in the eight federally declared counties had registered for the Individual Assistance program as of Friday.

The current amount approved for the FEMA Individual and Household Program is $78,671,960, with $58,441,234 going toward housing assistance and $20,230,726 going toward aid with other needs.

Residents and businesses in Bedford, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and York counties can register to receive aid through Jan. 10. For those with questions, FEMA operators are available daily until 11 p.m. to answer questions or provide guidance on the registration process.

Survivors can apply for federal disaster assistance by registering online or by calling 1 (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or 1 (800) 462-7585 TTY for the hearing and speech impaired.
