PA Memorial Day 2024: Here Is Your Holiday Weekend Forecast

PENNSYLVANIA — Good news for Keystone State residents traveling for the long Memorial Day weekend: much less rain is in the cards for the days ahead, forecasters said.
While early Memorial Day weekend travelers may see thunderstorms and showers on Friday morning, a “quiet rest of the weekend” with “highs warming into the low to mid 80s” is expected, according to the National Weather Service Mount Holly station.
Friday’s forecast calls for low-80s temperatures and a moderate (40 to 50 percent) chance for rain and thunderstorms, the weather service said. Saturday will be warmer with mid-80s temperatures, mostly cloudy skies and 5 mph winds; Sunday will see similar summer-like temperatures with partly cloudy skies and light winds.

Despite the dry weekend forecast, Monday will still see a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with some storms capable of producing heavy rainfall, the National Weather Service said.
Travel delays, flooding, downpours and hail are possible, as well as localized damaging wind gusts between 55 and 65 mph, AccuWeather noted.

The thunderstorms are expected to continue through Monday night, though lingering showers are still possible Tuesday into Wednesday, the weather service said.

Friday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 86. North wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. East wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
