PA State Trooper Shot, Killed Man Holding Knife On Halloween: Report

Police said they were called to a residence Sunday night where a man holding a knife outside refused to drop the weapon.

WEST HANOVER, PA — A Pennsylvania state trooper shot and killed a man who refused to drop a knife during a confrontation on Halloween, authorities said on Monday.

According to the Associated Press, troopers had responded to a domestic complaint in West Hanover Township. They said Glenn Custer, 59, of Harrisburg, was acting erratically and was armed with a knife.

Custer disobeyed commands to drop the knife and was moving toward a trooper and toward the residence where the domestic complaint had been made, authorities said. At that point, another trooper opened fire, according to reports.

Custer was pronounced dead at the scene, reports said. No one else was injured.

The shooting is under investigation, according to the Associated Press.
