PA Weather: Severe Thunderstorms Possible As Storm Risk Rises Tuesday
Update: Parts of the state are now under a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Here's the latest.
PENNSYLVANIA — Parts of the Keystone State are now under an increased risk for severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.
The eastern portion of the state is slated to see the strongest effects of the storm, including damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service. That region has been upgraded to a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms, the agency said in an update about 1 p.m.
Rainfall is slated to begin Tuesday afternoon as temperatures in the 80s prevail in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.

"Incidents of damaging wind gusts, hail and torrential downpours” are also possible Tuesday, AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Benz said in a forecast discussion.
Tuesday’s chilly wind gusts could reach up to 10 mph, especially overnight as temperatures drop to around 50 degrees, the National Weather Service noted.

The showers are slated to continue into Wednesday morning, paving the way for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s by the afternoon, per the weather service.
Dry skies, partly cloudy skies and daytime temperatures in the 70s are expected Thursday and Friday before another chance of showers rolls around Saturday and Sunday.
Here’s the latest forecast, according to the National Weather Service:
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Southwest wind around 10 mph.
Tuesday Night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms, then scattered showers after 11 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: A chance of showers before 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. East wind around 5 mph.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.
