Pennsylvanians Most Want This Chain To Open In Their State
Everyone has that one brand they wish would open closer to home. Here's what Pennsylvanians picked.
Everyone has that one brand they wish would open closer to home, whether it’s a cult-favorite fast food chain, a beloved grocery store or a gym franchise they’ve only seen on TV.
But which chain would Pennsylvania residents like to see most in their state?
Financial media company MarketBeat recently surveyed more than 3,000 people, asking them that question. Those surveyed included a balanced mix across age, gender and geography.

The results revealed that Pennsylvania residents want Publix to open in the Keystone State. The Florida-based grocer is famous for its friendly service, tidy stores and legendary deli subs.
"Despite Pennsylvania’s already strong grocery landscape, from Wegmans to Giant Eagle, transplants often talk about Publix as a 'community store' that feels different from the competition — one they wish would finally head north," MarketBeat wrote.

Coming in at No. 2 was Salt & Straw, the Portland-based ice cream chain known for its inventive flavors like honey lavender and pear and blue cheese. The brand has built cult status on the West Coast.
"While Pennsylvanians can order pints online, there isn’t a single scoop shop in the state," MarketBeat wrote. "For locals in Philly or Pittsburgh, the chance to line up for seasonal creations and taste-testing flights would bring a new level of excitement to the dessert scene."
Finally, residents would like Texas-based H-E-B to open in Pennsylvania.
"Texans who relocate to Pennsylvania often say H-E-B is the one grocery store they truly miss. Known for its low prices, fresh produce and cult snacks, it would stand out even in a crowded supermarket market," MarketBeat wrote.
Nationally, no brand came up more often than In-N-Out Burger. From Alabama to Wisconsin, residents across the country listed the cult California chain as their dream arrival. East Coast grocery chain Wegmans also ranked in the top three in more than a dozen states, including some far outside its current footprint like Texas, New Mexico and Utah.
Meanwhile, not every wish was food. States like Alaska (LA Fitness), Colorado (Movement Climbing + Fitness) and Utah (SoulCycle) had an appetite for national gym and lifestyle brands.
