EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — A "potent" storm headed towards Eastern Pennsylvania will bring rain, wind and cooler temperatures to the region mid week. The storm is expected to bring some relief to the dry conditions plaguing the area, which has been under a drought watch.
"The upcoming storm and weather pattern flip will remind many in the central and eastern United States that autumn 2024 is officially nearing its final month, and conditions may come as a bit of a shock to some," according to forecasters with AccuWeather.
The storm is expected to move in Wednesday night, when temperatures will dip to around 40. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph that night.

Forecasters have high confidence in this system impacting the Philadelphia region. The chance of precipitation in the area is 100 percent on Wednesday night, according to The National Weather Service. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible.
The system will bring snow to some areas, but precipitation in the Philadelphia region will stick to rain. Parts of West Virginia and western Maryland could see up to a foot of snowfall through Friday as a part of this storm, forecasters predict.
