PHILADELPHIA, PA — Potent storms that could result in flash flooding and damaging winds are possible Monday in the Philadelphia region, forecasters warn.
The National Weather Service said that an approaching cold front from the west could cause isolated severe storms Monday afternoon. Damaging winds are the primary threat, the agency said.

AccuWeather warns the storms could prompt flooding issues in some areas along the East Coast, including the Philadelphia region. "There can still be flash flooding of small streams and urban areas where it manages to pour for a couple of hours," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.

Additionally, those heading to the beach may continue to experience the impacts from Hurricane Ernesto, which has caused dangerous rip currents along the Jersey Shore and beyond. Multiple people were rescued from Jersey Shore waters over the weekend as the storm moved offshore over the Atlantic Ocean.
The approaching cold front will usher in pleasant weather mid-week. Skies are expected to clear out by Tuesday, with a high temperature of 73 degrees.
