Snow, Arctic Wind Forecast For Eastern PA: See Timing
A change in the jet stream is going to bring wintry temperatures and some flurries across eastern Pennsylvania next week, forecasters say.
Frigid air will blast eastern Pennsylvania over the coming days, with wintry temperatures and even the first snow of the season touching down in some areas, according to the latest forecast.
Early Friday morning marked the coldest air of the season thus far, the National Weather Service said, with temperatures plummeting down to around 37 in the greater Philadelphia area. The cold blast has brought a definitive end to the growing season in Pennsylvania.
Temperatures will warm up slightly over the weekend before another bout of Arctic air slams into the region late Sunday night, with lows in the low 40s on Sunday night before dropping into the mid to low 30s next Monday and Tuesday.

Snow is possible in parts of the Poconos and areas of higher elevations. It's likely to fall as rain in the early morning hours Saturday. Another round of rainfall is likely Sunday into Sunday night, with less than a tenth of an inch falling.
"Passing upper level disturbances may bring spotty showers, or even flurries where it gets cold enough fast enough, but significant precipitation is not expected Monday into Monday evening," the National Weather Service said.

Frigid wind blasts of 30 miles per hour will make it even chillier.
However, the Arctic front is likely to move out after Tuesday night.
"Wednesday and Thursday one or more cold fronts will attempt to slip southward into the region, but they look moisture and support starved, so little if any precipitation is likely. Highs rebound to the 50s with overnight lows above freezing," the National Weather Service said.
