Southeast PA’s Highest Paid School Admins: See Breakdown By County
Patch pulled salary data that includes superintendents, principals and other employees in administrative positions by county. See the list:
PENNSYLVANIA - More than 1,450 Pennsylvania administrators made salaries of $150,000 per year or more and nine made over $300,000 a year during the 2022-23 school year, according to the latest data from the state Department of Education.
The latest figures represent an increase from 1,200 administrators — including superintendents, principals and assistant principals, curriculum directors and other employees in administrative positions — who made at least $150,000 during the 2021-22 school year, based on Patch analysis.
If you’re a superintendent in the Keystone State, you’re in luck: Pennsylvania superintendents report making an average of $160,000, slightly above the national average of $156,468, per the School Superintendents Association.

Some of the state's highest-paid administrators received generous pay increases between the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school year. For instance, Joseph Driscoll of the Marple Newtown School District saw a 13 percent salary increase year-over-year; Jill Hackman of Berks County Intermediate Unit No. 14 saw more than an 18 percent payroll jump.
