Woman Injured After She's Dumped Into PA Garbage Truck

Witnesses told Allentown officials the woman was inside a dumpster when the trash was emptied into the truck.

ALLENTOWN, PA — A woman inside a dumpster was hospitalized this week after she was thrown into a garbage truck, according to officials and a report.

The Allentown Fire Department received a call shortly before 4:15 a.m. Monday about a person trapped inside a trash truck near 2nd Street and West Hamilton Street, the department said in a news release.

When crews arrived at the scene, witnesses told officials the woman was inside the dumpster when the trash was emptied into the truck.

Crews and first responders worked "urgently" to free the woman after realizing she was trapped. The rescue was completed shortly before 5 a.m.

The woman was taken by paramedics to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with minor injuries. Authorities did not specify how she ended up in the dumpster.
