Amber Police Reports: Theft, Public Drunkenness, Bomb Threat

Police incident reports from Ambler Borough Police Department.

Robbery – An Ambler resident reported he was robbed while walking on S. Main St. on July 30 at 11:10 p.m.  The victim reported a dark color vehicle pulled alongside of him with four male occupants, and one of the males got out of the vehicle and removed approximately $5 from the victim’s pants pocket.  After taking the money, the male then got back into the vehicle which then drove off.   Incident is under investigation.

Bomb Threat – Police were advised of an anonymous  911 hang up call stating there were three bombs at the train station on July 30 at 9:21 p.m.  Officers advised County Dispatch to have SEPTA shut down all trains coming into and out of Ambler Borough, and evacuated all pedestrians from the waiting  platforms.  The County Bomb Squad was notified and K-9 bomb units from Whitemarsh, Cheltenham and SEPTA responded.  The Bomb Squad checked the platforms, tracks and immediate area with negative results, and at 11:19 p.m., the train station was put back in service.

Fire – Police were dispatched for the report of a stove fire in a residence on the 200 block of N Ridge Ave. on July 30 at 7:10 p.m.  The fire had been extinguished prior to officers’ arrival. The fire was the result of some paper that was on top of the stove.  Wissahickon Fire Company responded and ventilated the residence.

Theft from Vehicle – On July 28, a resident of the 300 block of Mattison Ave. reported a Tom-Tom GPS valued at $200 was stolen from her vehicle on 7/23.  She believed the vehicle was locked. 

Theft – A Lansdale resident reported on July 28 that while staying overnight at a home in the 200 block of S Spring Garden St., her white, Apple iPhone 4, valued at $600 was stolen.   Seven other subjects had stayed at the home overnight.  Incident is under investigation.

Public Drunkenness – Mario Efrin Cortes, 30 years of age of the 200 block of E Park Ave. was cited for Public Drunkenness after a traffic stop on July 27 at 9:51 p.m.

Theft – CVS Store/Pharmacy, 200 block of E Butler Ave. reported on July 27, that sometime between 7/25 and 7/26, three boxes of diet pills valued at $200 were found stolen. 

Theft from Vehicle  – On July 27 at 11:27 a.m., a Lafayette Hill woman reported she parked her vehicle in a lot in the 300 block of E Butler Ave., leaving it unlocked.  When she returned, she found someone went into the vehicle and stole her pocketbook.  Officers checked the area for the handbag and located it in a dumpster behind an apartment building.  $200 in cash was found missing.

Theft - On July 24, the CVS Store/Pharmacy, 200 block of E Butler Ave. reported sometime over the weekend of July 14th, five empty packages of Rogaine were found. The value of the loss is $232.

Vandalism – A resident of the 200 block of Rosemary Ave. reported on July 27, vandalism to his ’05 Ford Explorer, with the rear window being completely broken out.
