Ambler Beverage Exchange Will Have Large Beer Selection

Watch the Ambler Beverage Exchange Facebook for their opening date.

One of Ambler’s most anticipated additions is Ambler Beverage Exchange. The beer distributor will carry all the standards, as well as a large craft and local beer selection.

Jim Carter, one of the co-owners of Ambler Beverage Exchange, said the distributor will have a large refrigerator for cold beer selections.

They have also installed three tasting taps so customers can try a new beer before they purchase a full case of it, or can try something new.

He added that beer novices, or anyone who wants to know more about beer are welcome to come in and ask questions and learn more about beer and learn more about what they like in beer.

“I love beer,” said Carter.

They also plan on having tasting nights, and Prism Brewing, from North Wales, will be their first tasting night. Ambler Beverage Exchange will also carry Prism Brewing bottles.

Carter and Doug Loughran, the two co-owners of Ambler Beverage Exchange, have known each other for 15 years and used to work together and have been discussing opening a beer distributor since February of 2011. Carter said that spent a lot of time talking to people in the industry for advice.

When the two got a lead on a liquor license, they began looking for a location.

“We love Ambler…I love this are and so does my partner Doug,” said Carter.

Carter told Patch that when renovating the building for Ambler Beverage Exchange, the new owners recycled as much as possible. For instance, the new tasting table was made from old rafters in the building.

Carter added that the building is no longer drive through, however he added that employees will help carry cases to your car. He also told Patch that residents can call or even text for door to car service.

Ambler Beverage Exchange will carry cases, whole kegs, half and quarter kegs, and sixlets.

However, after a number of delayed openings, Carter didn’t want to give an expected opening date to Patch, and instead recommended that residents watch their Facebook page. He told Patch that they will post on Facebook about a week before they are ready to open.
