Ambler Protest Against President Trump's Administration Set For This Week

AMBLER, PA — A protest against President Trump's administration and recent policies which critics say are violations of civil and human rights will be held in Ambler this week.

It's part of a coordinated set of protests and gatherings nationwide coinciding with the date of the passing of Congressman John Lewis, an icon of the civil rights movements for decades. Lewis passed on July 17, 2020.

The "Good Trouble Lives On" event will take place on Thursday, July 17 at the intersection of E. Butler Pike and Park Avenue near the CVS.

"From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights," event organizers said. "But we know the truth. In America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it."

The Ambler protest is being organized by Community for Change and Indivisible Montgomery County.

Organizers encourage protesters to bring donations for Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard.

Organizers said they expect all participants to embrace the nonviolent principles advanced by Lewis and championed by the movement, and that protesters should seek to "de-escalate" any potential confrontations with those who disagree with them.

Similar events are also scheduled nearby in other Montgomery County communities, including East Norriton and Lansdale.
