Army-Navy Game Ball Passes Through Montgomery County

West Point cadets run the ball 300 miles from campus in New York down to Maryland ahead of the big game.

LOWER GWYNEDD, PA — The ball that will be used in this year's Army vs. Navy game passed through Montgomery County with much fanfare on Thursday morning.

The ball is making a 300 mile journey from the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York down to Landover, Maryland, where the game will be held at the Washington Commanders stadium this weekend.

A team of runners rotates on the roads, sharing the burden of carrying the ball farther than a thousand Saquon Barkleys would in the course of a season.

Each cadet will run about 20 miles total with the ball, the Army said. They left on Dec. 11.

“While the ball run required significant effort and meticulous planning, the experience and outcome always make it worthwhile,” Ball Run Cadet-in-Charge Aubrey Boatwright said in a statement.
