  • A student must have a physical AFTER June 1, 2012 in order to be eligible to play any sport for Wissahickon Middle School during the 2012-2013 school year. Doctors must use PIAA forms available at the middle school and on the website under the “athletics” tab.
  • The state recently passed new legislation that will have a significant impact on scholastic athletic programs. Any student interested in trying out for a sport must participate in the following:

1)      Attend an information session on concussions and concussion management. (Students and parents/guardians are required to attend one session prior to the start of athletic participation.)

  • The concussion and concussion management session referenced above will be held on Wednesday evening, September 5th in the High School Auditorium. The session will begin at 6:30pm and should last less than one hour. Any student interested in trying out for afall sport must attend and be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

  • The ImPACT testing (concussion baseline) referenced above will be administered by (trained) coaches during the first days of practice/tryouts. Student athletes need only participate in this testing once each year. In the event a student athlete is diagnosed with a concussion, results of that baseline test would be analyzed to help determine their readiness to resume activity. Additional ImPACT testing may be appropriate in such situations.
