'Lower Pike' Overlay District Approved by Lower Gwynedd Township

The ordinance updates the current zoning requirements along the "lower" portion of Bethlehem Pike, easing restrictions on development and expanding the permitted uses of the properties.

In a move that seeks to bring more businesses to the township, the Lower Gwynedd Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the Lower Pike Overlay District ordinance during their meeting on January 22.

The ordinance updates the current zoning requirements along the "lower" portion of Bethlehem Pike, easing restrictions on development and expanding the permitted uses of the properties. Current residents will be unaffected by the ordinance, but they can now take advantage of the new allowances that the overlay provides.

The initial proposal covered the entire pike and would have allowed for a gas station, but it was jettisoned due to concerns about traffic and the overall scope of the ordinance.
