Officer Down Call Leads to Public Drunkenness Citation, Police Say
Frank Burke, 52, of S. Spring Garden Street, was allegedly peering into an unoccupied Ambler Borough Police car while drunk, police said.

What began as a call for an officer down in Ambler Borough ended as a public drunkenness citation for an Ambler man.
Police said Frank Burke, 52, of the 200 block of S. Spring Garden Street, was arrested and later released after police responded Sept. 5 at 12:52 a.m. to a 911 call of an officer down.
Officers responded and found no officer was down or in danger. Instead, police said, Burke was allegedly found peering into an unoccupied police vehicle.
Officers spoke to Burke, who was allegedly highly intoxicated, off balance and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, police said.
Burke was taken into custody by Ambler Borough Police, while all other police departments and EMS were recalled, police said. Burke was taken to Ambler Borough Police station and housed until sober, police said.
He was cited for public drunkenness and later released, police said.
