Patience Urged As Spring House Intersection Project Continues
Township officials say progress is being made, but that inconveniences must be expected.
LOWER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP, PA — Utility crews are making important progress on the Spring House intersection renovation project, but work on one of the area's most significant construction efforts is still underway.
Verizon will be the final company to relocate their utility lines from the area, and then the poles themselves will be removed by PECO, according to officials.
"We anticipate that the final wire relocation and pole removal will be completed by the end of February," Lower Gwynedd Township said in a statement.

When poles are removed motorists will receive advance notice, as traffic will be impacted.
The next phase of work will involve the installation of stormwater management facilities on the Sumneytown Road side, continuing along Norristown Road. This construction is expected to begin in the spring and be completed by the summer.

"It's important for the community to be patient and understanding during this period, as road construction and improvement projects often bring temporary inconveniences," the township added in a statement this week. "(Crews) will make every effort to minimize inconvenience to the community and traveling public while the proposed improvements are constructed."
When completed, the improvements will include a widened Norristown Road and Sumneytown Pike, with additional through lanes in both the eastbound and westbound directions. New traffic signals, a concrete sidewalk, an improved trail, and ADA ramps will also be added.
