On Thursday, July 26, Tiffany Mitchell, also known as “Gypsy,” turned herself into the Whitpain Township Police Department on an active felony theft warrant. Mitchell was wanted by the Whitpain Township Police Department as the primary actor in a “Sweet Heart Scam” involving an 89 year old Whitpain resident.
In May 2011, Mitchell, 21, befriended an 89 year old man in Philadelphia and told him she needed money for a kidney transplant. She allegedly conned the victim out of $38,000. Mitchell also had the ederly man sign a lease for a white Mercedes Benz valued at approximately $60,000, which the elderly male turned over to her use.

In November 2011, an arrest warrant was issued for Mitchell after the Whitpain Township resident filed a police report. When Mitchell was contacted about the warrant, the Mercedes was towed back to the Whitpain Township Police Department by a tow truck driver. The tow truck driver advised he met with a female in Philadelphia who instructed him to bring the Mercedes to the police department.
With the assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department, several attempts to take Mitchell into custody at different location in Philadelphia were unsuccessful. Mitchell was aware criminal charges were filed but remained elusive over the next several months.

As a result of this investigation, criminal charges were also filed against Sylvia Ristick-George, who is the mother-in-law of Mitchell. In March 2012, Ristick-George turned herself in on the warrant and was released on bail. Ristick-George was an alleged co-conspirator in the fraud.
Felony criminal charges were filed against Mitchel for Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Theft by Deception (three counts), and Receiving Stolen Property. Mitchell was able to post bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing in Whitpain Township.
