Second Alarmer's to Receive Supply Donation from Willow Grove Charities

The donation, which will be officially announced on Feb. 20, will provide $6,500 in funding for the rescue squad's Violent Trauma Supply program.

The Second Alarmer's Association and Rescue Squad will soon receive a boost to their Violent Trauma Supply program, thanks to a pending donation from a local charity.

During a formal presentation scheduled for Feb. 20, Willow Grove Charities will officially announce a $6,500 donation to SARS, which will be used to purchase trauma supplies that can aid victims of a violent event, such as a school or work shooting.

The donation comes after efforts made by SARS Assistant Chief Ken Davidson, who made a presentation to the charity's board appealing for help with the program. Within minutes of hearing the presentation, the board unanimously voted to fully support Phase 1 of the project, according to the press release.

As a result, SARS will be able to purchase 26 "push packs" – two per ambulance – and four "mass care kits, which will be housed in each supervisor's vehicle.

“Phase 1 is just the beginning,” said Davidson. “This is a great start. All of our units will now be equipped with the minimum amount of supplies we feel are appropriate to begin treating multiple victims of a violent event until more help arrives.”
