1 Week, 3 Burglars in Windows, Police Report

Three burglaries in the past week in Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch began with entry through windows, Lower Merion police told news media Monday.

Owners of two of the homes had been on vacation for several days, police said, and all three homes lost jewelry.

The first burglary, on the 500 block of Hansell Road in Wynnewood, happened sometime from July 1 to July 4, police said. Someone had popped the screen out of a kitchen window, entered the unlocked window and stolen about $2,600 worth of jewelry.

In the second burglary, someone pried open a front-porch window sometime from July 3 to July 8 on the first block of Simpson Road in Ardmore, police said. The master bedroom was ransacked and about $250 worth of jewelry was missing.

The third burglary happened overnight July 7 to July 8 on the first block of Hampton Avenue in Merion Station, police said. As in the first burglary, someone removed a window screen and entered the unlocked window. A jewelry box was stolen, but the total value of its contents was not yet known, police said.
