Electrical Outage on Rittenhouse Place Shuts Down Street

Fire officials responded to a fire alarm at Rittenhouse Deli and found a power outage on the street.

Lower Merion fire officials responded to an alarm at Rittenhouse Deli on Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore this afternoon, to find that an electrical outage had caused several problems up and down the street, according to Lower Merion Deputy Fire Marshal Jim McCoy. The street is blocked off between Athens Avenue and Cricket Terrace.

On Monday afternoon, fire officials responded to reports of a building fire at Rittenhouse Deli and found smoke coming from an air conditioner in the roof whose motor had burned up. Fire officials also found an electrical outage on the street, which had likely preceded the air conditioner problem, McCoy said.

Fire officials are checking buildings up and down the street for similar issues.
