Lower Merion Selects New CFO

Pending approval from the Board of Commissioners, Eric Traub will start overseeing the township's finance department on May 4.

Lower Merion administrators have selected a new chief financial officer to manage the township’s 15-person finance department and the development of the $100 million operations and capital improvements budgets.

Township Manager Ernie McNeely announced that Eric Traub will take on the role of Lower Merion’s CFO on May 4, following the expected approval by the Board of Commissioners at its April 15 meeting.

“[Traub’s] expertise, confidence and knowledge of municipal government will be vital to us as we meet the challenge of carrying on Lower Merion’s very strong financial tradition,” said McNeely in a press statement.

Traub will direct the Finance Department staff and administer financial management programs. He will draft and recommend finance-related policy to McNeely and guide implementation of all financial goals and objectives, according to the statement.

He will also administer the development of the Township’s annual operating and capital improvement budgets. Traub previously served as finance director for East Norriton Township and a senior managing consultant at Public Financial Management in Philadelphia.
