More Work To Affect I-76 Traffic In Lower Merion, Philadelphia

From Monday to July 2, lanes will close overnight Interstate 76 in both directions for line striping, pipe cleaning, and more, PennDOT said.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — More PennDOT work will have an impact on drivers traveling along Interstate 76 in Lower Merion and Philadelphia overnight next week.

PennDOT said milling, paving, line striping, pipe cleaning, sign installation, and barrier repair work will all take place overnight on a portion of the highway next week.

This will force lane closures on I-76 in both directions.

The work part of a $37.9 million project to resurface and repair nearly five miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps, and more than 20 bridges in Lower Merion and Philadelphia.

Monday through Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on the ramp from westbound I-76 to southbound U.S. 1/City Avenue for milling and paving.

Also starting Monday and lasting through July 2, a weeknight lane closure is scheduled on sections of I-76 in both directions between the U.S. 1/City Avenue and I-676 interchanges for line striping, pipe cleaning, sign installation, and barrier repair.

This work will also be done from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
