Photos: Senior Games At PALM

In honor of the Olympics, local seniors are competing in a variety of athletic challenges at the Ardmore senior center.

They may not be competing in the 100-meter dash, syncronized diving or the uneven bars, but members of PALM Senior Center are getting into the Olympic spirit in their own way: participating in the center's 2012 Senior Games.

The competition's events, which culminate in an awards ceremony next Friday, include egg in spoon races, a walker and ball kick, and wheelchair ball. The event also includes exercise for the mind, including cards and checkers, Olympic trivia and a geography quiz.

PALM aims to help adults 55+ to maintain "a healthy, satisfying quality of life" by providing activities and services that enable them to remain independent, and to celebrate the process of aging.
