Police Blotter: Mapes, Ardmore Toyota Burglarized

The following information was supplied by the Lower Merion Township Police Department on Monday, June 6.

Lower Merion Township police reported last week's crimes and incidents Monday afternoon, June 6, in a weekly briefing to news media.

Theft:  Police said four rims and tires were stolen from a 2011 Toyota Venza from the Ardmore Toyota dealership overnight between June 1 and 2. The sales manager reported the items had been stolen from the vehicle while it was parked in the lot overnight. The tires and rims were valued at $3,200, with each set worth $800 (rims $550 each, tires $250 each).

* Police said they responded to a report of a retail theft at 11:45 a.m. June 2 at Mapes on Rittenhouse Place in Ardmore. A store employee saw a man attempting to conceal two bottles of oil and a can of starter fluid in his pockets, according to the report. When the employee confronted the man, he ran out the back of the store and attempted to climb over the fence. Police arrested Glen Puller, 56, of the 200 block of Lippincott Avenue in Ardmore. Puller was cited with retail theft.

* Lawn furniture was stolen from the grounds of home on the 300 block of Sycamore Avenue in Merion Station, sometime between May 26 and 29, police said. The cast-iron furniture was taken while the victim was away on vacation. The four and table were valued at $1,000, police said.

Public drunkenness:  Police said a 21-year-old woman was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct at 12:41 a.m. on June 2, on the unit block of E. Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore. The Philadelphia woman was seen squatting in the alcove of a business on that block and an officer who stopped determined the woman had been urinating. She registered a .19 on a preliminary breathalyzer test, and was brought to police headquarters for her own safety, police said.

* In a seperate incident, police arrested a 48-year-old man on the first block of Simpson Road in Ardmore at 1:27 a.m. on June 2. Neighbors reported someone banging on a door, and when police arrived the man had difficulty explaining why he was there. Police said the man, John Hennessy, of E. Spring Avenue in Ardmore, registered a .15 on a preliminary breathalyzer test. He was arrested and cited with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Hennessy was then transferred to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in connection with prior incidents, police said.
