Unlocked Lockbox Leads to Burglary, Police Say

Cash and jewelry were stolen from a residence in the unit block of Spring Avenue after burglars gained access to an unlocked lock box outside, police said.

Police responded to a report of a burglary that occurred sometime between 1 p.m. on Nov. 3, and 3 a.m. on Nov. 4.

The resident returned home to discover that the front door was open.  The resident then called police.

Police cleared the building and discovered that cash and jewelry had been stolen from the apartment.  Police also said there was no sign of forced entry.

Police later discovered a lockbox on the exterior of the apartment building that had keys to every unit in it.  Police sad that the lockbox was unlocked.
