Baldwin Traffic: Brownsville Road Reopens After Bridge Repairs

Motorists have been forced to take detours after a portion of Brownsville Road closed in July.

BALDWIN, PA - Here’s something for which Baldwin and Whitehall motorists can be thankful: After more than four months, the closed section of Brownsville Road between Linhart Lane and Streets Run Road has reopened to traffic, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced.

The section of road closed in July for a $1.7 million rehabilitation of a 115-foot bridge carrying Brownsville Road over railroad tracks. The work included concrete pier and abutment repairs, deck repairs, bearing and expansion dam replacements, roadway paving, and structural steel painting.

An additional closure – expected to take place over a weekend in spring 2019 – will be needed to place an epoxy overlay on the bridge deck.
