Baldwin-Whitehall School District Receives $1 Million State Grant

BALDWIN, PA — The Baldwin-Whitehall School District has received a $1 million state grant from the Ready To Learn Block Grant program.

The money can be used for full-day kindergarten or Pre-K programs; reducing class sizes in kindergarten through third grade; providing tutoring assistance; increasing career awareness programs; health services programs; tutoring assistance; science and applied knowledge skills programs; math, science ad literary-specific programs; purchasing materials or extending service hours for school libraries; elementary-level world language programs; and programs focused on teacher training, professional development and resources to elementary science teachers.

The grant was announced Monday by state Rep. Nick Pisciottano of West Mifflin.

“A strong public education system lies at the foundation of every thriving community,” Pisciottano said. “This grant, on top of the historic increase in education funding in this year’s state budget, will ensure our future leaders get the high-quality education they deserve.”

This year’s state budget increased funding by approximately $54.7 million for public schools in Allegheny County.
