Former Baldwin-Whitehall Sports Star Glenn Page Dies
The former Baldwin-Whitehall football team captain had been battling leukemia.

BALDWIN, PA- Glenn Page, a former Baldwin-Whitehall High School and University of Maryland sports standout, died Aug. 5 at a hospice facility in Towson, Maryland. Mr. Page, who had battled leukemia since 2015, was 49.
Mr. Page, a 1986 Baldwin-Whitehall graduate, was an honor roll student who handled the shot and javelin duties on the track team and was a forward on the basketball team. But he was best known for captaining the football team, where he played tight end and linebacker.
The Baldwin-Whitehall Sports Hall of Fame member’s dominant play on the football field earned him numerous honors. In 1985, he was named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 and Pittsburgh Press Finest 44 recognizing western Pennsylvania’s finest football players, and in his senior year he played in the Pennsylvania Big 33 game.

At the University of Maryland, Mr. Page played inside linebacker and was the team’s leading tackler during his senior year. He received numerous awards for his on-field performance but was particularly proud to have been selected to the 1991 All-ACC Academic Team for his outstanding academic achievements.
After graduating from Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing, Mr. Page obtained a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola College.
Mr. Page spent 30 years in the banking and finance industry, with First National Bank of Maryland, GE Capital, M&T Bank and lastly with BB&T. His work career concluded with working for BB&T Capital Markets as a senior vice president with the corporate banking division. In 2014, Mr. Page received the annual Sterling Performance Award for being the “Best of the Best” at BB&T Bank.

Mr. Page’s grandfather, father and now his brother, Chuck Page, own Page Dairy Mart, a popular soft ice cream store in Pittsburgh’s South Side. Mr. Page spent many hours in his youth working at the business.
Mr. Page is survived by his wife of 19 years, Liz Page; three children, Andrew, Anna and Robert; a sister, Patti Zapf and husband Len Zapf; his brother Chuck Page; his brother Howard Page and his wife Vera Page; his mother-in-law Harriet Fenster, his sister-in law Edie McPartland and husband Chris; his sister-in-law Julie Peterson and husband Boyd; his sister-in-law Leslie Minsch and husband Mike; his sister-in law Kathryn Feldmann and husband Lee; ten nieces and nephews on the Page side of the family and 12 nieces and nephews on his wife’s side of the family. Mr. Page was predeceased by his parents Charles and Marjorie Page, his father-in-law Robert Fenster and his nephew, Garrett Feldmann.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chapelgate Presbyterian Church, 2600 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, Maryland. Interment to follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Marriottsville.
