Man Arrested on DUI Charge

Garrett Haluska claims that he also hit a parked car before police stopped him.

A man was pulled over by a police officer on Streets Run Road near Route 51 at around 2:33 a.m. on Thursday for not dimming his high-beam headlights when driving past the officer. 

The officer turned around and stopped the motorist—Garrett Paul Haluska, 25, of 23 Saint Leo St. in Pittsburgh's South Side Slopes neighborhood—in the nearby  lot. He reported smelling alcohol on Haluska's breath and noticed damage to his vehicle.

When the officer questioned him about the damage, Haluska said that he had recently struck a parked car, according to the incident's police report.

The officer said that Haluska failed field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Haluska was taken to the , where a friend eventually picked him up.

Police have not yet charged Haluska with leaving the scene of an accident, as the parked car that he claims to have hit has not been located.
