Need a Pennsylvania Voter ID? Here's How to Get One

In need of a  for November's election day?

Beginning today (Monday), Pennsylvanians can obtain non-driver's license photo identification cards for free at any of the state's Department of Transportation driver's license centers.

All state residents on Nov. 6 must show proper photo identification at their assigned ballot boxes in order to cast their votes.

Voters must provide one of the following forms of ID: 

• U.S. passport.
• Driver's license. Expired driver's licenses are permissible as long as they have expired within the past year.
• Student identification from any accredited public or private university in the state.
• Military identification.
• Pennsylvania care facility identification for those residing in assisted living or personal care homes.

Those without proper identification can receive free photo ID cards for voting purposes only at any of PennDOT's 71 driver's license centers. Click here to find the one closest to you.

In order to receive one of the free cards, a resident must provide his or her name, address, Social Security number, proof of residency, and previous address if he or she has moved in the past year.

An applicant must also complete a Pennsylvania Department of State ID application and sign an oath confirming that he or she is a registered voter.

A resident will receive his or her ID card once his or her voter registration has been confirmed.

The cards will be valid for 10 years.
