Popular Pittsburgh Singer Dies

The lead singer of one of the city's best-known cover bands has died.

BALDWIN, PA — Robby Meyers, lead singer of the popular Van Halen tribute band Meanstreet, has died of coronavirus complications.

Mr. Meyers, of Baldwin, was 61.

He was the vocalist for the band known for its impressive covers of early, David Lee Roth-era Van Halen songs. The group played numerous locations in southwestern Pennsylvania since its 2007 debut.

Mr. Meyers also was the owner of R's Lawn Care, Landscaping and construction.

Fans of the band took to Facebook to pay tribute to Mr. Meyers.

"Only had a chance to meet you twice but it made me a lifetime fan and friend," David Firster wrote on his Facebook page. "Your views on faith, love of country, support for our law enforcement, and of course Van Halen will endear you to your friends and family for eternity."

"What a great man that cared so much and helped so many," Joy D'Uva wrote. "Very heartbreaking! He will be missed by so many!"

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Mr. Meyers' funeral expenses.
