Waste Management Contract

Why are we getting 1/4th the service from Waste Management but spending more money.

Our borough taxes have gone up so you would expect that we would have improvements in our borough. Now we find that instead of picking up all of our garbage as Waste Management did in the past, they will only pick up one 96 gallon container of garbage per week unless you are willing to pay an addition $110 for another container increasing in cost by 7% each year. Instead of picking up all of our extras on a weekly basis as they did in the past (i.e. chair, sofa, mattress) they will only pick up two items on the first week of the month. If you miss that date by one day then it must sit there for another month in the snow and the rain. We are supposed to be happy with this agreement which the council has placed in our laps. We are paying more for 1/4th of the services we used to receive so that Waste Management can get rich. I was told we should have attended the committee meetings but I say we elected these officials to keep our best interests in consideration before reaching this kind of decision. No one sent out a questionnaire or proposal to the borough residents so we could give feedback. I know of other areas who have left Waste Management because of their lack of service. I am totally disgusted with the handling of this situation. I'm certain Waste Management is laughing and dancing all the way down the road for accomplishing this rip-off of Baldwin Borough residents hard earned money.
