Whitehall Man on Erin Molchany, Martin Schmotzer

, a frequent public voice at Baldwin-Whitehall School Board meetings, wrote a May 27 letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that is critical of Pete Wagner, Martin Michael Schmotzer and the Allegheny County Democratic Committee.

Rampolla, of and Pennsylvania's 22nd House District, has been an outspoken critic of Schmotzer's past work on the B-W School Board and now finds himself represented by Schmotzer on the state level.

"I'm responding to Pete Wagner's comment that Martin Schmotzer's record is the only reason won (the recent 22nd District election)," Rampolla writes. Rampolla continues, "Mr. Schmotzer's record of taking money from the public for his own personal use (he initially pleaded guilty to charges and repaid the money, but the case was later dismissed on a technicality) by itself definitely made him unqualified for office, regardless of whom he ran against.

"Did Mr. Wagner and the rest of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee think the voters of this district would roll over and vote for this man (Schmotzer) just because they endorsed him?"

Rampolla also talks of a mailing that Schmotzer issued in opposition to Molchany.

"This mailing was the mark of a desperate candidate willing to say anything to win."
