131 School-Aged Kids In Bucks County Tested Positive For COVID Last Week: Read New Stats

The health department said new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations held steady between Sep. 5 and Sep. 13, while vaccination rates dipped.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — According to state health department data, 25 Bucks County children four and under and 131 children in the county between the ages of five and 18 tested positive for COVID-19 between Sep. 2 and Sep. 8.

According to the data, there were 635 positive cases in children reported in the county over the past month.

This news comes as vaccination rates are dipping in Bucks, while hospitalizations and positivity rates hold relatively steady since last week. The seven-day average of new cases has been going down since the end of August, the Bucks County Health Department said, when the average peaked at 163 on Aug. 29.

The county health department's data showed that at least 930 new COVID cases were reported in Bucks County between Sep. 5 and Sep. 13, with a seven-day average of about 133 new cases a day. The previous week saw 1,000 new cases reported, with a seven-day average of 135 new cases a day.

Hospitalization numbers in the county plateaued in the past two weeks, following a steady increase over the past month. As of Monday, at least 59 COVID-positive patients were being treated in Bucks County hospitals. Eleven adult patients with COVID-19 are in the intensive care unit, and eight are on ventilators.

A look back at the numbers shows that August started with just 10 COVID-positive patients in Bucks hospitals.

At least three COVID-related deaths have been recorded so far in September, the county health department said.

The number of new vaccinations is down from last week, with 4,263 vaccines administered compared to the past week's 5,693. To date, 67 percent of residents 12 and older have received at least one COVID-19 dose, according to county-reported data.
