County Urges Awareness of Heat’s Effect
Older residents are encouraged to visit one of county's 13 senior centers.

The Board of Bucks County Commissioners reminds residents that extreme hot weather can cause serious heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Though everyone should take precautions, seniors are especially vulnerable to the effects of heat. The Bucks County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) advises that the best precaution during the current heat wave is to remain indoors with an air-conditioner or in a ventilated room with a fan. Unless restricted, residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water and/or non-alcoholic beverages to prevent dehydration.
The public is encouraged to check on elderly neighbors, friends and family members. If you or someone you know are experiencing symptoms such as faintness, dizziness, nausea, weakness, heavy sweating, etc., CONSULT A PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY. Also, fans may be available through the Area Agency on Aging for senior residents of Bucks County (age 60+) who do not have a fan or air conditioner.
