'Mass Casualty Incident' In Bucks Co. After Tornado Warnings

There are reports of serious building damage at a Bensalem Township car dealership after a tornadic event ripped through the town.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Severe storms inflicted serious damage across Bucks County Thursday, prompting the Bensalem Police Department to declare a "mass casualty incident" after the roof was ripped off a local car dealership by a suspected tornado.

Numerous tornado warnings were issued across the region Thursday evening.

Street Road in Trevose was seriously affected by the tornadic storm event. Sources say severe building damage has been reported at the Faulkner Mazda dealership in Bensalem, where photos on social media show a roof collapse.

At 7 p.m., the National Weather Service confirmed "tornadic storms" in the Bensalem and Northeast Philadelphia area.

A mass casualty incident refers to an event in which three or more were injured. Bensalem's Director of Public Safety, Fred Harran, said five people have been injured. None of their injuries are life threatening, according to a press conference by officials Thursday night.

Bensalem officials said they had established an evacuation center at the Neshaminy Mall.

Tornado warnings in the area ended after 9 p.m. Flash flood warnings in Levittown and Croydon remain in effect until 11:15 p.m.
