Man Charged With Stolen Gun After Bensalem Traffic Stop

Bensalem Police charged the Philadelphia man during the traffic stop Monday afternoon on Rockhill Drive.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — A Philadelphia man is in custody after being charged with a stolen gun found during a traffic stop on Monday, police said.

A Bensalem police officer was in the area of Rockhill Drive and Lincoln Highway at 4:15 p.m. on Monday when he spotted a silver GMC Acadia being driven on the roadway with an expired tag that was registered to a Honda.

Isaiah Love, 36, of Philadelphia, told the police officer that he had just bought the car a couple of months ago, but had not yet registered the vehicle.

He also could not provide the officer with proof of insurance. A computer check showed that the car was unregistered and uninsured, so the officer was authorized to tow the vehicle.

Before an inventory search, Love asked for the black satchel under the seat and his wallet.

Officers removed the black satchel and discovered a loaded black handgun inside. Love old police that he had a permit to carry a firearm.

The gun, a 9mm Beretta APX was checked through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and found to be reported stolen out of North Carolina in November 2019, police said.

Officers also discovered a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Isaiah Love was then taken into custody.

Love was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, and traffic violations. He was arraigned by District Justice John Galloway and released on $10,000 bail.
