Michael G. Fitzpatrick Foundation Hosts First Event

The foundation, set up by friends, colleagues, and family to support Fitzpatrick's memory, held their first event in Bensalem.

BENSALEM, PA — The Michael G. Fitzpatrick Foundation held its Kick Off Gala at the Belle Voir Manor in Bensalem on Thursday, Nov, 18.

The foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-partisan charitable organization, was recently organized by family and friends of the late Michael G. Fitzpatrick, a life-long Bucks County resident and Republican politician who dedicated his life to helping his community.

Fitzpatrick passed away on Jan. 6, 2020 after battling melanoma. His brother, Representative Brian Fitzpatrick, succeeded him in 2016 after he decided not to run, being a supporter of term limits.

Over 300 people attended the event. Guest speakers included Mark Schweiker, the 44th Governor Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, his brother Brian Fitzpatrick, and Michael Smerconish, a host for Sirius XM and CNN.

During his time in politics, Fitzpatrick helped in supporting local causes, including working with the federal goverment to get support for the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, securing aid for Bucks County flood victims, and secured efforts to make passenger planes safer after the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

On his last day in office in 2017, Fitzpatrick said "I measure my time by how many people I helped.”
