Nottingham Fire Department Mourns Lifetime Member
George Johnson III died suddenly on Friday at the age of 70, the Bensalem-based fire department said.
BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Nottingham Fire Department is mourning the loss of a life member who died suddenly on Friday.
The fire department said that George W. Johnson, III of Bensalem Township, died at the age of 70 Friday. No cause was given for his death.
Johnson joined Station 65 in 1992 as a live-in member and was injured that year during a training exercise, fire officials said.

Johnson never returned to firefighting but was active as an administrative member, serving as a trustee, officials said.
Johnson leaves behind his wife of 31 years Debi, his son Georgie (Susan), and his daughter Sam (Edgar). He is also survived by his grandsons Matthew and Leo.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate George’s life on Thursday at the Tomlinson Funeral Home on Bristol Pike from 9-11 a.m. with a small memorial service starting at 11 a.m.
Born in Boonton, N.J., to the late Rose Marie (Pierce) and George W. Johnson, Jr, he was a township resident for 31 years, his obituary states.
Johnson worked as a stationary engineer at Sarnoff until his retirement.
Johnson loved family trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and to Disney, his obituary said.
He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State Football.
His interests extended to trains and riding his motorcycle. He also loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandsons.
