Police Charge Purse Snatcher with Robbery, Resisting

Suspect identified as George Retallick of Quakertown.

Bensalem Township Police Special Investigations Unit yesterday arrested a Quakertown man for snatching a woman's purse.

According to Sgt. Andrew Anisman, the Special Investigations Unit was working a narcotics detail in the 2300 block of Old Lincoln Highway.  While in the area, officers heard a female screaming for help. “I just got robbed,” she yelled, police said.

Officers then observed a man identified as George Retallick running with a purse in his hand. A foot chase ensued and the Retallick was apprehended after he resisted.

Retallick, 35, was charged with robbery, resisting arrest and related offenses.

Investigation revealed that Retallick grabbed the victims purse and a struggle ensued. Retallick gained possession of the purse and fled.

Retallick was arraigned by Judge Falcone and sent to Bucks County Prison on $50,000 or 10 percent bail.
