Resources Available For Bensalem Residents Impacted By Flooding

Those whose cars were towed, who have property damage, or who are in need of shelter can contact township departments for help.

BENSALEM, PA — Following a 100-year flash flood event Monday night, Bensalem residents are contending with extensive property damage and even displacement from their homes.

Bensalem Township Police Department's Director of Public Safety Frederick Harran has released recommendations for those residents in need can contact to receive help in coping with impact from the storm.

  • If your car was towed during the storm, you may contact Bensalem Township Police Department at 215-633-3719.
  • If you are in need of shelter, you may contact the American Red Cross by dialing 1-800-733-2767. Representatives will no longer be available at the Cornwells Fire Company.
  • If you were displaced and need shelter for your dog or cat, the Women’s Humane Society located at 3839 Richlieu Rd. is offering Bensalem residents pet boarding for up to 10 days. Contact the Woman’s Humane Society at 215-750-3100 with any questions.
  • If you have property damage, contact the Bensalem Township Police Department at 215-633-3758. If no one responds, leave a message and someone will return your call within 24 hours.
  • You can also now report your property damage online, clicking “Submit Online Report” on the top right of your screen. Complete the information and use the drop down “Other” when prompted for which type of online report you are submitting. If you submit your report online, it is not necessary to call in your property damage.
  • Bensalem Township is not working with, nor endorsing, any business that states they are involved with the clean-up of this storm. Residents are advised to research any business prior to hiring them, and to be aware of scam artists that may be calling to solicit funds to support the storm relief.
  • Harran and Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo shared these and other PSAs in a video posted Friday.

Bucks County officials have reached out to Governor Tom Wolf requesting he declare the town as experiencing a state emergency disaster. In Bucks County, Croydon and Bristol were also significantly impacted by flooding.
