Rotary Donates Dictionaries to Bensalem Students
It's part of the national Dictionary Project.
The Rotary Club of Bensalem through The Dictionary Project will provide 1,200 new dictionaries to children attending Bensalem Schools. The mission of The Dictionary Project, a non-profit organization is to provide dictionaries to all of the students in the United States. A dictionary is an essential tool for a quality education. Most children do not own a dictionary, nor do they have access to one in their home.
The goal of the Dictionary Project is to improve the reading ability and comprehension of all children, everywhere and to encourage children to use dictionaries so that they will be able to use the English language effectively. It improves everyone’s vocabulary and it encourages children to learn more words.
The Rotary Club of Bensalem contributed $500.00 and was able to secure two grants, $480.00 from the Rotary Foundation, and $500.00 from the Rotary Gundaker grant program to purchase 1,200 dictionaries. Both to these grant funded programs receive regular contributions from the Bensalem Rotary Club and its members.
