Route 1 Bridge Construction Underway This Week
PennDOT said work is scheduled on Route 1 during the day and overnight as part of highway improvements in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Two projects are underway this week on Route 1, PennDOT said.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans bridge construction and pavement work on Route 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in 1 Bensalem and Middletown townships.

- Monday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. a periodic lane closure will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Route 132 (Street Road) Interchange for pavement marking installation.
- Monday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, lane closures will be in place on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange for bridge deck sealing.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.
All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
